THE END IS NIGH

Well the end times are here, the day we have been scared about is finally here. Its our last day of animation. But all good things have to come to an end right? Maybe so but I definitely went out with a bang. Everything that I have learned all year in animation is being put into my final animation. Green screen, special effects, Maya, and so many other wonderful tools I have learned.

This final animation project started off with a plan or storyboard if you will. Of course this masterpiece that is better than the Mona lisa has been created by no other than yours truly. But this is not all I did, I also made the credits and helped with general quality assurance. The main idea of this project was too take everything we learned in animation over my sophomore year and put it into a final project. After the storyboard we went to the green screen and filmed the amazing Carter Maass into our project. This was a difficult process because we had to balance the color tone and out him into the scene of a moving New York City background.

I did not really learn anything new just because this project was about putting everything you know into this this project. But still I polished my skills and got to know the green screen a little better. But all together my team worked great, we finished ahead of schedule everyone had their own job and finished amazingly. Next time if we were not to pressed for time I would have added a couple different sounds but nothing too major. But some things we did were awesome and I would do again. Like having carter act again and I would keep the same animated space ships. This was a very cool project and Im glad I got to show off my animation skills.

Web Design Final BLog:(

What I've learned in Web Design is...
What I've learned in Web Design is...
What I've learned in Web Design is...
What I've learned in Web Design is...
What I've learned in Web Design is...

Well the time has come, my final blog post for web design. I am actually generally pretty sad about this. I have had a great time and I will definitely miss this class. But I finished the year off with a great project. My index page. (http://www.eravensonline.net/students/366gjv21/) This was a very cool project because I got to create my very own project and every time I made an adjustment to the website I had to upload the website to the server so people can see it on the web!

One of my favorite projects this year was definitely the halloween website. It taught me how to embed other websites into yours so a lot of information can be read at one time! Also because Halloween is by far my favorite holiday.
This summer will definitely be a busy one, monday through thursday I will have 6:30 am weights followed by 6:00 pm soccer training. My parents also would like for me to get a job which will be very difficult with how busy I will be with soccer but I may be able to fit it in. We are also taking a vacation to Colorado for an outdoor camping vacation which will be pretty cool, my summer with be filled with lots of hard work which I hope will pay off for soccer season my Junior and Senior year.

Even though I am not continuing on with E-comm I really wish I could and I would definitely would continue with the web design strand but with E-comm taking up two electives I will not be able to because I have to also fit in weights for soccer and debate but don't get me wrong I had tons of fun in E-comm met some amazing people and even greater teachers I really wish I could continue but I will definitely tell my sisters to become E-comm students!

Animation Final

Our animation final. I loved helping make this project, because we used everything we have learned the whole year into one project. I was upset because my favorite part was the green screen but I was sick that day so I was not able to help. But I was able to help with storyboard and credits and overall quality assurance.

The explosion

Special FX

This is my city explosion. I used several tools to make this explosion. I had to use the composition settings to make a mask so the fire would explode in the right place. Now this technique can be used for many different scenes, for example I have made another explosion but in a western scene.

responsive web page

USMNT

http://www.ussoccer.com

Responsive web pages are very important in todays world, and here is a very good example of a responsive site.

This is the main homepage of the United States Mens National Team. As you can see we have the main image navigation buttons search bar and an article. Watch what happens as we go down to tablet size.

As we go down to tablet size the main image and logo are still there but we can see that the search bar and navigation has moved down to the bottom of the page. The articles have moved to the image being on the top and title below the image rather than being side by side. Very responsive. Watch what happens as we go down to mobile device size.

As we get down to mobile device size the main image and logo, articles, and search bar have stayed the same but the size have shrunk down to accommodate mobile devices needs.

Here is one more page on the website to show you how responsive the site really is.
Desktop

Tablet

Mobile

Responsive web design

     1. what is responsive web design?

Responsive web design is aimed for an optimal viewing experience on all devices. Such as mobile, tablet, and desktop. Making your website responsive to the needs of all devices will help determine the success of your website.

     2. why has responsive web design become so important?

Smartphones and tablets have changed the approach toward design and user experience. and now more mobile devices are browsing the internet than even desktop users. So responsive design has become very important.

     3. what are media queries?

media query consists of a media type and at least one expression that limits the style sheets' scope by using media features, such as width, height, and color. Media queries, added in CSS3, let the presentation of content be tailored to a specific range of output devices without having to change the content itself.  (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Guide/CSS/Media_queries)

     4. what are breakpoints?

Breakpoints are a pause in the program to prevent bugging.

desktop and mobile trends

Is your website not doing as well as it should? Maybe you're not getting enough page views. Well there may be a simple solution, staying up with the trends. As of January 2014 the time spent on the internet with mobile devices and passed the time spent on desktop devices. Now what this means is that more people are using their mobile devices to use the internet rather than their desktops.

Now we will be analyzing onwravens.net to help predict the future trends. Over the last three years their website has seen a great increase in the number of mobile device users on their site, in turn has led to the decrease of the percentage of desktop users. The percentage of mobile users is 35% compared to desktops 55% this past year. Even though desktop users have the higher percentage mobile users percentage increases significantly every year by around 10%.

I have never been on the website using a mobile device only a desktop, so for the future I think desktop percentages will always stay higher than mobile device percentages but that does not mean they have to change their website. Because the percentage for mobile device usage is high and will probably grow onwravens.net has to alter their site to handle the needs of the movie device user.

Now to really make sure your website can handle the needs of the future, make sure that you accommodate the needs of the mobile device user as well as the needs of the desktop user. Because they both will determine if your website succeeds or not.

Ballin Blog

Be the best blog you can be

My Ballin blog was not always so Ballin. I know its hard to believe but there were a lot of tedious adjustments that I had to make, so my blog looked super Ballin. Mainly the cash money and the white lettering that goes together really made this blog Ballin.

Even though cash money makes this blog super Ballin. There were a few other things that I needed to do before I really got this blog up to dope status. And Im talking about them headers. Without the headers on your posts your loyal readers will have no idea what they are reading and they will get lost, making them lose interest in your blog.

Also you are a super awesome Baller you needs to get yourself out there so you can make some paper. So go ahead and make a personal page about yourself it really brings out your blog and makes your readers feel right at home.
How are you going to get noticed and score a huge record deal to really start making that paper if you don't have a google +1 button on your Ballin blog? You're not going to get noticed so get a cool gadget on there and start getting them subscribers!
Now if you follow these simple rules your blog will become Ballin in no time. Them you can start making some serious paper then become a true homie. Peace out fam.

TIPS

SO YOU WANT TO BE A MAYA EXPERT?

Well you can't just come in here prancing around pretending to be a big shot. You're going to have to the learn the basics before you can even think about entering the dark world that is Maya. It has taken me over sixth months to make a simple salt shaker and even that was hard. I am hardly an expert but don't come in here and tell me that you can just open up Maya and make anything you want it doesn't work like that. You're going to have to practice, you may not know where you are going but reading the basics I am about to tell you is a good place to start.

Wow! Curves! They don't sound that intimidating but don't get me wrong if you don't listen to what Im about to tell you'll get eaten up like a red snake on a tuesday morning. Know you may no the from Arizona and there it means that Maya will destroy everything about you. So you should really listen to what Im about to say. You can create curves easily by using the curve tool.

Now I know you are super impressed by me telling you about that fancy smancy curve tool, but know you will get a sneak peek on my very first salt shaker I made. Now please hold your enthusiasm and your criticism. It took me several days and nights to create such a fine salt shaker now if you listen to the rest of my tips you too may one day create such a fine salt shaker.

Wow isn't it amazing? Well of course it is. For my next tip I created something that salt tastes create on, ice cream. Now you're probably asking yourself what does ice cream have to do with Maya? Before you go and complain to your local congressman I have the answer. Bump maps. No not maps with bumps in them, well kinda after you have finished creating your basic shape of strawberry ice cream (because all other flavors are in-supperior) you will probably be asking yourself well that doesn't look like the almighty strawberry ice cream its all grey and it looks like something that came straight from communist China. I have the solution, bump maps just apply your favorite material such as lambert or phong. Then as soon as that is done you go to bump map then you apply a cloud trust me it looks the best.
Holy cow don't you just love ice cream along with my diamond encrusted scooper? Its now of my finest works. As you can see my ice cream is sitting in a 1950s diner. Now one of the few things Maya is good at is not melting your ice cream, Maya has a cold heart you it keeps your ice cream at a cool 0 degrees. Take my word for it Maya will not melt your ice cream mine has stayed frozen for a couple weeks now. With my ice cream i usually like to have a glass of root beer in a chalice. That is convenient because for my next tip we will be creating a lovely chalice.
Yes yes I did spell chalice wrong my first couple of times, but thats okay who doesn't make mistakes. As stated in Hannah Montanans hit single "Everybody makes mistakes".  Well on to the second holy grail on which your eyes are currently feasting. Can you guess which one is the holy grail? Go ahead guess Im not going anywhere. Well you guessed wrong because they both are the famous holy grail. Haha yes only if we had a 3D printer I could create these cups and have immortality. Well I do, I will live on through my blogger posts. Sorry we are getting off topic here. Get your head in the game. Im disappointed in you. Like the salt shaker I used the curve tool. Hooray and also NURBS which made the cup itself after i outlined the cup with the curve tool.

Polything is probably the tip I should have started out with. Oh well, get over it. Creating the polishing will teach you the most basic tools about Maya. The first thing you will need to do is create a a sphere and create a cylinder, the next thing is to boolean difference two circles out of your polything. Then you will create lighting effects for your polything.
Have you ever bounced a ball and wondered, hm... I really want to go on a computer and animate those balls. Well now you can after I tell this very essential tip you will be able to animate your balls. Once you had made the basic shape and you have timed the balls in the real world. You must must set how they bounce using keyframes. Which also helps you time it very well. Once you have set your keyframes you will start to notice they they do not quite look like tight. The graph editor will smooth out your bounces.

If you were alive during the 90s and also very uncool you will probably know what hammer time is. No don't get excited we will not be animating MC Hammer. Yes I know that would be a cool project put no one can copy the slick dance moves of the parachute pants wearing MC Hammer, not even a computer. We will in fact, be animating a diamond encrusted hammer though. The bevel tool is a very important tool because it lets you extend surfaces to make even more surfaces.
Now take my very important tips into the unforgiving world and maya and try not to get yourself killed. But do not worry because as long as you memorize all of my tips and put them to good use you will be able to not only stay alive but create anything your mind can imagine, except MC Hammer because he is way too fly. Good luck and I hope to see you on the future.
